GENERAL SUMMARY (What does the position do?):
The Accountant II is responsible for ensuring that all GL accounting is performed in accordance with GAAP. This position ensures through the use of a detailed accounting calendar that all data is properly captured in the GL to facilitate accurate and timely financial reporting. This position is responsible for ensuring that all balance sheet accounts are reconciled monthly and analysis is performed on key income and expense accounts, as well. This position directly supervises the A/P staff and performs those personnel reviews on time. The Accountant II immediately advises the CFO of any abnormalities discovered in accounting systems.
All employees must be adaptable due to an ever-changing competitive environment. Employees may be required to cross-train with other functions to provide flexibility to the organization.

MAJOR DUTIES (List duties in order of time spent on them, with the most first):
• Provides training, guidance, and direction to A/P staff
• Produces and distributes detailed monthly closing schedule to all appropriate personnel and monitors timely completion of each task
• Ensures all G/L activity has taken place each period to properly match all expenses and revenues and that all appropriate accruals have been performed
• Performs reconciliations on all balance sheet accounts and key income and expense accounts monthly for review
• Ensures timely tax reporting is performed (Sales & Use, P/R, Real & Personal Property, Income & Excise, as well as other miscellaneous requirements)
• Develops special reports as requested by CFO or other areas of the organization
• Works with CFO to handle external audit requests and developing year end work papers for auditors
• Reconciles all banking records monthly
• Maintains fixed asset records and processes all related authorizations and reports
• Maintains “customer service concept”, professionally representing department both internally and externally
• Works closely with CFO to close monthly activity and produce timely and accurate financial statements
• Other duties and special projects as requested by CFO
• Must be available for overtime as required

SUPERVISORY AUTHORITY (Degree to which position oversees the work of others)
• Accounts Payable staff

NECESSARY EXPERIENCE/SKILLS (List those necessary to qualify for the position, and then list desirable skills)

• Must possess strong accounting skills
• Must have 3-5 years experience working with automated accounting systems
• Must have 1-2 years supervisory experience including strong teambuilding skills
• Must have strong verbal and written communication skills
• Must be accurate and detail oriented
• Must be proficient with MS Office (Excel, Word, Powerpoint)
• Should have strong data entry skills (ten key and alphanumeric)
• Strong numeric aptitude
• Knowledge and experience relating to annual audits and SOX compliancy helpful
• Knowledge of databases helpful

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS, CERTIFICATIONS (List those necessary to qualify for the position, and then list desirables)
• B.S. or B.A. degree in Accounting including 3-5 years accounting experience in a manufacturing environment or equivalent
